The Square Building was proposed as a high-detailed project in the University of South Santa Catarina, in which it included field trip to São Paulo, Brazil. The proposed building, located in the corner between Av. Paulista and Pamplona St. in São Paulo, consists of two detached volumes, connected by walkways. One of them, the corporate tower, relates directly to the iconic FIESP tower, while the smaller one (cultural base) respects the alignment with the neighboring building on the Pamplona St. As presented in the diagrams on the side, these design decisions establish the harmony with the environment, maintaining certain level of sensitivity, recognizing its value as an architecture and establishing coherent relations between old and new. The proposed building has both horizontal and vertical integration of spaces and natural lighting and ventilation strategies throughout its extension. In addition to the main walking access for pedestrians, the building has parking for cars and bicycles, and also, underground connection to the São Paulo Metro system.
