This 1-month RFP (request for proposal) project was developed by Perkins Eastman with a team of 6 people in the NYC office. The client gave us a 8-blocks site in Beijing, China, to develop the best design strategy for a specific program and requested area for each department. The final project of the Center Hospital for Excellence included 4 main connected blocks (Cardiology and Neurology, General Hospital, Women’s + Children’s Chinese Medicine, and Orthopedics and Oncology). To provide close support to this facility, another 4 integrated blocks (Research and Training, Mobile Healthcare operations) were designed to become community neighborhood modules.

I contributed to the development of most of the stages of this project and was responsible for the floorplans of all buildings, as well as some of the diagrams and site-plan (mainly in the public areas, parking, and pedestrian access). We had careful consideration in relation to solar orientation for maximum use of natural lighting. Additionally, our team had weekly Skype meeting with these clients, which allowed us to show the design progress and also to receive immediate feedback to improve it.
